Julie Lazar is an independent curator and directs ICAN (www.icanetwork.org) whose clientele includes: American Film Institute, Art Center College of Design, Cornerhouse (UK), Creative Capital, KCET Public Television, Los Angeles' Metro Arts Program, Montalvo Arts Center, San José's Cultural Affairs Department, Santa Monica Museum of Art, Getty Museum, Seattle Public Arts Commission, and the USC/Getty Arts Journalism Program. She was a founding Curator then Director of Experimental Programs for The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (1981-2000). Lazar led development programs in New York at PS 1 Center for Contemporary Art, The Hudson River Museum, Rockefeller University, The Museum of Modern Art and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. As a curator, Lazar specializes in commissioning new art works in all media. Among the artists with whom she has worked are: John Adams, John Cage, Remy Charlip, Mel Chin, Anthony Discenza, Juan Devis, Guillermo Gómez-Peña, Brent Green, Renée Green, Katherine Finkelpearl, Karen Finley, Geoff Gallegos, Janie Geiser, Frank O. Gehry, Gary Hill, Louis Hock, Carole Kim, Hirokazu Kosaka, Mingwei Lee, George Legrady, Sherrie Levine, Rick Lowe, Ingram Marshall, Anthony McCall, Julia Meltzer and David Thorne, Pat O'Neill, Martin Puryear, Navin Rawanchaikul, Bruce D.
