New Look for The Saint Michael Trio
Big news for fans of our resident chamber ensemble, The Saint Michael Trio: last week, they announced that longtime member Daniel Cher would be leaving the group.
"Daniel Cher, violinist with the Saint Michael Trio since its inception, has announced his departure from the ensemble. An accomplished performer on multiple instruments, he plans to develop other areas of his life and focus his musical energy on the accordion," the Trio wrote in an email to fans.
Replacing Cher on violin will be Robin Sharp, a celebrated performer and teacher in the Stanford University music department. Sharp has also already been a guest with the group on numerous occasions over the years, as well as being concertmaster of the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra and a regular with the San Francisco Symphony.
The fresh new Saint Michael Trio will be playing four Sunday afternoon concerts in Montalvo's historic Villa this coming fall and spring:

Creativity in Nature: Ikebana and Succulents |
Do you want a unique floral arrangement to spruce up your home or office? You can learn to create beautiful, colorful natural bouquets and centerpieces in two upcoming classes in our Montalvo Summer Nights series!
On Tuesday, August 1 from 6-8pm, it's time to Get Creative with Succulents! Succulents are one of the best plants to use for summer floral arrangements -- they weather the heat well, add sculptural dimension to bouquets, and come in a multitude of shapes and colors. Learn how to use them in living centerpieces and hand-tied bouquets with mixed florals, and even how to embellish your jewelry into wearable botanical art.
On Tuesday, September 5 from 6-8pm, learn about Ikebana as Moving Meditation from renowned ikebana instructor Yuko Tiernan. A centuries-old art form, this Japanese floral technique calms the spirit, focuses the mind, and teaches the eye to identify beauty in the details of the natural world. First, you'll create a traditional ikebana arrangement, then transform it into a modern style.
Registration for each of these workshops is $65 and includes all necessary materials. No experience is necessary. At the end of class, you'll bring home your beautiful creations!
