The Saint Michael Trio:
Montalvo's first resident chamber ensemble
The Saint Michael TrioDaniel Cher (violin), Michel Flexer (cello), and Russell Hancock (piano) balance high-paced careers in the private sector with their musical undertakings. Their interesting and accessible concerts feature great classical performances combined with lively and enlightening commentary.
Long-time mainstays of our Villa Chamber Music Series, this fall they began their stint as our first-ever resident chamber ensemble. In that role, they present four afternoons of music:

The opening of his Fifth Symphony may be the most recognized four notes in music. Learn some of the myths and mysteries surrounding the iconic composer, and hear some of the major milestones from Beethovens trio repertoire.
Vive La France
Sunday, March 23, 3pm
The Saint Michael Trio celebrates the special élan of the great French masters: Claude Debussys impressionist departures, the restraint of Gabriel Fauré, even the inventive fusion jazz of Claude Bolling.
Haydn on Trial
Sunday, April 6, 3pm
Trivial and simplistic? Formulaic? A left-brained technician? Haydn has been accused of being many things. With the audience as jury, Saint Mike's will defend Haydn against his critics in a courtroom-style drama incorporating examples of his compositions
